Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Honey- a 2 year old, 46 pound retriever mix. Her beautiful and lustrous coat is the color of a sweet caramel apple; her eyes have the ambered honey glow of late sunset but hint at cavernous disappointments in her life to date.
Initially shy with new people and situations, Honey is gaining confidence daily in her foster home, relaxing and learning to be a cherished member of her foster family. When she first entered foster care, Honey was shutting down from the inside, like a child’s toy whose battery is dying. But each sunrise finds her tail a bit higher and no longer tucked along her belly like a soldier’s sheathed sword, her head held more proudly, and she smiles. She is an accomplished athlete, and thrives on the freedom of running full tilt in a safe, fenced play area. Honey is housebroken, crate and leash trained, spayed, microchipped and mixes easily with other dogs.
Though gentle, kind and cautious, Honey is untested with young children and cats, and will require a slow and controlled introduction to both. A peaceful spirit with a lot of soul, her past has taught her to be careful to make a commitment; she will not be the instant life of the party in her new home, and will require a bit of time and patience to develop into the dog you never knew you wanted but now cannot live without.
