My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

MEET HOWARD (aka HOWIE) -

the newest newest member and self appointed leader of the Oregon Dachshund Rescue, inc. Puppy Brigade. Once you see him, we know you'll fall in love with this majestic and regal prince of a pup. HOWARD is an 9 month old, akc (with no papers), tweenie Dachshund and weighs 17.5 lbs! He is very strong and muscular and has excellent breeding. He loves going on long walks, hikes and runs, though he has a strong squirrel drive so his humans need to be aware. HOWARD is loving, loyal, smart, sweet and could live in a home with a spayed female doxie to have as his sister. While our little puppy prince is very smart, he is a baby and will need puppy training...He is extraordinary though, so we know he'll learn quickly. HOWARD will do best in a home where is parents stay at home (either retired or work from home). He could also do well with a family that has children as long as they're over the age of 10 years and understand the special needs of Dachshunds.

NOTE FROM ODR, INC.:
HOWARD is already fully vetted, neutered and had his deciduous baby teeth pulled.

OUR CRITERIA (aka The Fine Print):
Based on 30 years of experience with rescue doxies, we have pretty strict criteria. Do you work from home/stay at home/work part time? Have a securely fenced yard? We do not place same gender dogs in a home unless they were raised together, and children need to be 10 or older (some exceptions IF the dog is a puppy or the child has been raised with a doxie). We prefer non smokers and a home with no other small animals (ferrets, hamsters, etc) Cats are on a case by case basis depending on the dog. Remember, these are rescues; many were surrendered because of these issues.

WHAT YOU GET IN RETURN WITH YOUR LITTLE RESCUE:
All our dogs are fully vetted, including spay/neuter, rabies, DHPP, Bordetella, Pyrantyl, nails trimmed, and dental when needed. They'll come with a basket of goodies, food, toys and a custom made harness. The adoption fee is $495, sorry no exceptions, as this covers the cost to rescue them, vet them and take care of them while in our rescue. It also helps towards the care of other doxies that come with huge vet or dental bills or need extensive behavioral training.

Can you give HOWARD a happy, carefree life again? If interested, please complete the adoption questionnaire at www.odr-inc.org and email it to: jrangan@comcast.net. The adoption committee will attempt to be in contact with you within 48-72 hours. Please be patient as we are solely volunteer run.
