My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Danny is a lovely 2-3 year old male red and white Border Collie. Danny is a tall dude, approximately 21-22” at his shoulders. Danny is a love bug and likes but is not super needy. He is a smart boy as well and has the potential to learn many things. Danny is just settling into his foster home. He gets along great with the two female Border Collies in his foster home and likes to play with them. He is respectful of both female BCs if they tell him they do not want to play. He would enjoy a dog buddy in his forever home who likes to play. (He would also do well as an only dog because he loves being with his person). Danny is a young Border Collie with a good amount of energy. Danny needs plenty of mental and physical exercise, but as long as his exercise needs are fulfilled, he has an excellent "off switch" and is happy to nap by your feet. Danny likes to be near his person. Outside he will occasionally chase a thrown toy but loses interest quickly if something else is going on. Inside, he has started to chase a toy if another dog is chasing it, then he will grab the toy and lay down on top of it to keep it to himself. Danny seems to change everyday in regards to toys, so check back soon for an update!

Danny is getting used to being in a crate. He is crated at night and while his foster is at work. Danny is also working on house training, and being a smart dog, we don’t expect this to take too long. Danny’s foster home has a 4ft high fence and so far, he has not considered trying to jump it - even with people and other dogs on the other side. Danny knows "sit" and "down" and will come to you when you whistle - one whistle, either with your lips or a sheep dog whistle and Danny hurries right over! We're working on a standard "come" recall cue as well. Danny is a fairly polite dog, but being young he does like to jump up occasionally and he is learning not to do this. Danny has not been tested with children or cats.

Danny is a nice dog with the potential to be a great active companion for someone.
