This is the story of a lost soul, and we shudder to think it might happen to one of our own beloved pets. Annie Donut was known as the "abandoned home" dog; her owner passed away without making arrangements for Annie's welfare. The owner's daughter didn't want her, though she did reach out to rescue; as soon as we heard about Annie, Ratbone Rescues scooped her up! We were told her name was HoneyDu, but she didn't seem to know it. Her fostermom saw how scared and sad she was, and Annie's skin was in terrible condition; she was given a warm soapy bath as soon as she got to her foster home. Annie Donut was so grateful, and loved it so much, that she had her fostermom in tears. Annie had terrible flea bite dermatitis, a bad ear infection, and was dehydrated - but she came out of her shell in just a few days, and has even shown us her bossy side, demanding love and attention - as well as a preferred spot on the couch (she certainly is a little couch potato_. Annie doesn't mind the kitties in her foster home, and gets along with the other dogs in the house. She does grumble a little if the dogs bump up against her when she's cuddling on the couch. Annie has a great appetite, and her fostermom is working diligently on her skin issues. Some of her hair follicles may be damaged from her severe neglect, but we're hoping she can heal completely. Annie is a perfect little lady in her crate when her foster family is working and at school. She has had a few accidents overnight, so we know she is not housebroken yet. Annie Donut is named in part because of the Little Orphan Annie story, as well as her little "donut roll" of missing hair above her tail. She is an incredible dog and is deserving of a great family that will cherish her for the rest of her life. More pictures of Annie Donut can be seen
