Facts about Tina

  • Breed: Domestic Shorthair
  • Color: Brown Tabby
  • Age: Adult
  • Sex: Female
  • ID#: CM
  • Hair: Short
Tina is a sweet 2-year-old who was abandoned in a feral colony -- people tend to think they can get rid of cats in these colonies fed by SPCA volunteers, but feral cats are protective of their food source and tend to shut out newcomers from all food and shelter. Her SPCA foster trapped her to vet as a feral but found she was a friendly housepet. She loves men but we think that is because the lady volunteer was the one who put Tina back in a cage at night! Tina would like to be the only cat in a household so she could be the Queen of All She Sees. She has a gorgeous, shiny coat and little white feet; she tends to look like she is smiling. She is currently eating Purina One Hairball and loves her fleece hammock, though she prefers your bed!

About Cat Rescue, Inc., Petersburg now moved to the GREENBRIER PETSMART, CHESAPEAKE VA

About Our Rescue Group...

Cat Rescue, Inc., which was started in 1997, saves cats slated for euthanasia at overloaded shelters. No cat is adopted out prior to spay or neuter. The home organization is based in Chesapeake, managing the pet center in the Petsmart at Greenbrier Mall, Chesapeake. Adoptions number approximately 300 per year. We are a 501(c)(3)nonprofit, ALL VOLUNTEER, home foster based, no-kill organization. All donations and contracts paid are submitted to the director of Cat Rescue, Inc., in Chesapeake, Va., and are applied to food and medical needs of cats and kittens under the organization's care. The organization is committed to accepting any cat adopted from us if the owner for any reason has to give up the cat, for the rest of the cat's life; in effect, we provide a "life insurance" policy for these cats so that they never have to end up on "death row" in a shelter again.

Come Meet Our Pets...

CRI manages the pet center at the Greenbrier Petsmart, Chesapeake. We respond to the store immediately for adoption. All cats are spayed/neutered and have distemper and rabies shots, are wormed and tested for feline AIDS and leukemia. As a home-based foster organization, the cats are treated as companion pets. All food and medical bills are paid by the foster family without reimbursement, so adopters are assured that their adoption fees go toward the care and well-being of cats in the organization, many who have staggering medical bills, or who are unadoptable and must be cared for throughout their lifetime by the organization. In general, the basic cost of vetting a normal cat without medical issues is $200-300, so the $85 adoption fee is far below what has been invested in each cat.

Our Adoption Process...

Our contract requires: No declawing (toe amputation) and indoors only. You'll complete an adoption contract and questionnaire, and a Petsmart adoption form. The adoption process takes less than an hour and your new pet can go home with you same day. Cost of adoption: $85, cash only. If a pair are adopted, or a senior cat, a discount price will be available.
