Name: Lola

Age: 1 year old

Breed/Coloring/Weight: Lola is a Boxer/American Bulldog mix. She has gorgeous black and white markings, however her black is really a brindle brown that is found in many boxers. She is a slender 65 pounds. Her foster mom recently noticed a black shaped heart on her head which makes her all the more beautiful and unique.

Rescue History: Lola was rescued from the East Valley Animal Shelter recently. She was a shelter favorite. Originally the story is that she was found as a stray in Pacoima and brought in. It was then that a family adopted her and sadly had to return her b/c of a landlord issue. Volunteers rallied for her as they saw how much she loved to interact with people and her full of life personality. Luckily an independent rescuer was able to find a foster home to reside in until her forever home was found.

Personality:Lola is an energetic girl who likes to live life to the fullest. She is currently in foster care learning to be the best that she can be as her foster mom guides her through life. She came to us a little unsure of the world and was spooked by loud noises and busy environments. Slowly but surely she is gaining confidence as she experiences new things everyday. Lola is an emotionally fragile pup and does not like to disappoint her human - she is super sensitive and gets visibly upset when anyone yells, scolds, or raises their voice at her. Gentle and positive reinforcement works best in the short time we've been working with her. She is also very quiet, she does not bark, whine, or howl - we seldom get a peep out of her unless she is very excited. Lola gets an active outing everyday, whether it be a game of fetch at the park, a hike, or a playdate with some of her furry friends, she does need her daily playtime. At home she spends her days gnawing on chew toys or a favorite rope as well as napping after her morning outings. She's definitely a chewer and likes to bite up her toys into pieces... indestructible toys for Ms Lola and plenty of chew toys please! She is currently in an apartment so we are diligent about getting her out everyday, however a yard and an equally as playful dog would get the job done just as well. Her favorite game is to play chase, with her human or another dog - Lola likes to be the one chased as she runs around in circles loving every second. She really enjoys a fun game of fetch and loves to gnaw the ball until you try to get it back...then it becomes another fun game of keep away. We recently discovered Lola loves frisbees! and that girl can jump....she's very agile. Lola is just like a boxer in the way she plays and jumps up to give hugs. She enjoys play wrestling with her foster mom's 19 year old son like two brothers would rough-house, she's still very puppy like in almost everything that she does. We've also discovered she does not like sprinklers/getting wet. Lola is also crate trained, however doesn't love it so we limit it to short periods of time. She can be mouthy at times, but never to hurt....she just wants to play play play. A silly Lola fact is that she likes to eat ice - if you put ice in the bottom of her water bowl she will go digging for the ice as if she is bobbing for an apple until she gets that ice! She is like a toddler in more ways than one and will need structure and guidance in her life, but at the end of the day just wants to love, have fun, play, please her people, and be loved .

Medical: Lola is spayed, up to date on shots, microchipped, and has no health problems.

Would do best: We see Ms. Lola in a home with a yard or large space to run around and be free. She can literally go outside and play with herself but does need the space. She would love an equally as playful sibling large dog, a male boxer would be icing on the cake. We see older children teens and up in her home - she would be the best running, jogging, skateboarding, hiking partner. Whatever the case may be, this sweet girl needs love, structure, and stimulation. She also needs a high fence b/c of how high she can jump!

Cats, dogs, kids: Unfortunately Ms Lola chases cats so no feline friends in her home. She would get along with dogs her size that love to play as much as she does (she does not take cues from dogs that don't want to play and will pester and 'paw' them until they play with her). She is great with kids but will knock the little's over just being overly excitable therefore we suggest teens and up.
