Here's what the humans have to say about me:
HAREL and TEENA are cute little tiger/tortie mixes (“torbies”) about one or two years old. They look almost like twins, and could be sisters or cousins or mother and daughter. They are from a group of cats who were living at a Dumpster near an abandoned building on the wrong side of town.
For these former outdoor cats, much of the shelter environment is new to them. However they have made much progress since they arrived. Harel is the more outgoing of the two. She comes out and explores and has some new cat friends. She allows the humans to pat her and brush her, but she is not thrilled with being picked up.
Teena is shyer, and is not sure if she should trust humans. She prefers to observe rather than join in the fun. She allows a little patting now, but hisses when the allotted time is up. Inside these defensive exteriors there are two little kitties who just want some love.
These two girls would like to stay together. They need a quiet adult home with patient people who can complete the socialization process. They would probably get along fine with other cats in their new home.
THEA is a two-year-old orange female tiger cat who was also part of the Dumpster gang. She can’t quite make up her mind about whether she should trust people. She prefers to stay by herself, often sitting in a cat tree, and will position herself just out of reach of whoever tries to pat her. Thea hasn't quite gotten up the courage to interact with humans, but she is really interested in them. However, she has made a big improvement during her time at the shelter, and readily plays with toys. In fact, she usually tries to persuade the shelter volunteers to give her more toys, and it is fun to watch her play. She would like a quiet home where she could have space for herself. She will come out of her shell when she is ready.
