My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Clarice is a friendly, affectionate and playful young girl. She is great with other pets and people of all ages but would do best with older children. She is coming along very nicely with her training and socialization and would be a wonderful addition to any family. She has moderate energy and is quiet and well behaved in the home. She loves to play with other dogs and would be great for someone that would like to take obedience classes. She would do well in an active family with people who enjoyed her happy energy. Clarice is approximately a year old and currently weighs 42 lbs.

Here is what her foster family had to say:

Clarice has been a wonderful foster dog. She has been very receptive to training and is learning very quickly. Clarice loves to be around people and will make a great addition to any household! She is a gorgeous little girl and is a beautiful, butterscotch colour. She looks mostly full grown, but still has plenty of puppy energy at times which is so much fun. She has a moderate energy level. Although she looks small and compact she is a little power house. She loves to run and play like any other dog but knows when its time to rest and calms right down. She is a moderate shedder at this time. We are currently brushing her once every day, but that could just be due to the excitement of her new foster home or the time of year.

Clarice gets excited meeting new people but doesn't bark, just wants to say hello! She has done great with young adults. She has shown no aggression towards anyone or anything. She will emit a low friendly growl when playing tug of war but its all in good fun. Clarice has not shown any signs of shyness towards anyone. She has only hid from the blender and the vacuum. When it comes to people, she wants to be where the action is. She has had limited interaction with other dogs so far, but not due to that fact she is not good around them. From the little interaction she has had she plays very well with other dogs. When out on walks she will pull towards other dogs and squeals when she can't meet them. She is usually just looking to play.

Clarice has been great thus far when left alone. She is very well crate trained and has no problem sleeping an afternoon away while we are at work. No destructive behaviour at all, she has a blanket in her crate and doesn't bother with it and she has never made any mistakes in her crate. One shyness she may have would be towards the vacuum, but she doesn't bark or shake, she will just politely leave the room the vacuum is in and watch from afar. With some more training this fear should be easily over come. Clarice loves playing fetch with anything and especially loves learning new things during little training sessions. She is on her way to mastering sit, down, go to bed and stay. We have never seen her more excited than when she is in training mode. Once the training session is done for the day, Clarice will happily curl up on a blanket for a well deserved nap! She is really quiet in the home. She will only bark when she cannot have something she wants, such as to play with another dog when she is on the leash. Clarice really hasn't barked much in the house. She may whine a couple of times once she is in her crate but the whining is very short lived.

Clarice's house manners have been great so far. She doesn't try to get up on tables and hasn't chewed anything that we haven't allowed her to. She has attempted to investigate what is on the kitchen counter but we avoid having anything out that would grab her attention. To date, Clarice hasn't tried to jump on the couch or bed. She is quite content to sleep on a rug or blanket that is on the ground. Even if a corner of a blanket is on the ground, she's there! Clarice knows sit, down and go to bed and will listen intently while in the house. We are working on stay and has been very receptive to all training. She will sit for her food dish and sit before we open the door to go outside. We hope that the family or individual who adopts Clarice is interested in continuing her training as she has been such a great little student.

Clarice is house trained. We have had minimal accidents. She is getting to know to signal us that she needs to go by sitting by the door. She is crate trained and even hangs out in her crate when we are home to catch a quick nap. She is crated during the day when we are at work. Clarice is very receptive to training and within time will be good on a leash. Some days she definitely pulls and chews on the leash, while others she will walk right beside you. With consistent training, Clarice will be an amazing companion. Clarice would definitely love to run and explore so a fenced yard is something we are sure she would love. Clarice likes adventure and loves to look out the windows during car rides.

Clarice is a beautiful little girl and we hope that she is adopted by a family who will continue her training. We feel she is very receptive to training and she would definitely be a top student in puppy school! Her butterscotch coat and adorable face will melt hearts for sure. Clarice has a bubbly personality and loves to play and be part of the action. She has been a wonderful house guest and she will make one lucky family very happy. Clarice would suit any family. She does still have a bundle of puppy energy, so Clarice would benefit from an active family or individual.

If you would like to make this sweet girl a part of your family, please submit an application for consideration.
