Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Andrew, found as an abandoned stray, is a handsome mix of a rather unique blend of Basset Hound and Border Collie. His face and coloring are that of a Border Collie but his body is definitely the compact solid, short legged body of a Basset. Hound like and true to the Basset family, his nose works overtime taking in all sorts of smells when he isn’t busy being a couch potato. Loving and looking for attention, he is a quiet boy that just wants to be loved and near his person. He clearly was someone’s pet as he well fed, weighing in around 65 pounds when he was found and continues to look forward to every meal. His disposition is sweet, easy-going, quiet and loving. He does bark occasionally but it’s always for a reason and is a bit more of a deep hound-dog howl. Currently, Andrew has full access to his foster home and gets along with his foster siblings of all ages and sizes and appears to have no real desire to be the top dog or dominant male. He does well with both men and women and has been fine with older children and would probably do fine with younger children as well although there are none at his current foster home.
Andrew does like to go outdoors and has to be watched when a door or gate opens as he assumes he’s going with therefore he needs a fenced yard or someone to walk him on a leash or harness which he does fairly well with. At the time of his rescue, Andrew was found to have a severe bladder infection and blood in his urine so upon coming into his new foster home, he has had several accidents but with the help of antibiotics, a routine potty schedule and limited water before bed he is doing much better but will need someone with patience and positive encouragement to help him learn a desired routine. Andrew is currently neutered, up to date on his shots and on antibiotics for his bladder infection of which his prognosis is excellent (which should make a house training routine easier).
So if you’re looking for a loving, low-keyed companion that will make a loving addition to your family please contact his foster mom to set up a meet and greet: Cindy @ 708-655-9620. His adoption fee is $200.
