My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

UPDATE: Halle is doing great in her temporary foster home and is getting along well with dogs of other all sizes, even small dogs. She is a little timid at first especially with men but very sweet and playful once she warms up. She is crate-trained and doing great with housebreaking. This 1 year old sweet pittie girl is hoping to find her forever home soon...please email njwoof@cs.com if you are interested in fostering or adopting her. Halle was dumped while in heat and was terrified, being chased by male dogs before she was finally able to be cornered and caught by animal control. We saw her cowering and hiding in the back of her run at the pound and couldn't immediately tell there was something seriously wrong with her, but once we took her outside it was obvious that something was...well hanging out that should have been inside her body. We brought her to our vet where they did an emergency spay and surgery to "stuff back in" what had prolapsed, though the vet was unsure whether that would be enough to solve the problem or if she would require a specialist to amputate. Though it's a new one for us and our vets hadn't had experience with it before, apparently this condition is yet another danger of not spaying your dog and can happen generally on the dog's first heat cycle or if there's trauma during mating. After the surgery at first it did recur, but luckily as her hormones settled post-spay everything went back to normal and she is ready to be released from the hospital...now she just needs a place to go! Halle is a very sweet, gentle ~10 month old pittie mix girl who is timid at first but coming out of her shell more and more every day as she's feeling better and knows she's safe. She is looking for a foster home, permanent home, or a rescue with space for her ASAP. Please email njwoof@cs.com if you are interested. We are also in desperate need of donations so that we can continue to provide emergency care for the many needy cases we see weekly in our local shelters- we often have to pull and vet them first to save their lives and worry about how to pay for it and where to put the dogs afterward. Please donate through our paypal www.secondchance.petfinder.com, thank you! And please share Halle's story as yet another reason to have your dog spayedWe do not have a shelter- all our pets are in foster homes and can be seen by appointment only during the week, or at our weekly pet adoptions every Sunday at the Animal Clinic of Morris Plains from 12:30 to 3PM at 3009 Route 10 East next to 5 Star Car Wash (formerly Boulder Car Wash) in Morris Plains (Denville on GPS). To help us better match a pet to your household, we request you fill out an application on our homepage www.secondchance.petfinder.com and copy and paste it into an email, or print it and bring it to our adoption day when you come. Local inquiries only please- we do not do long distance adoptions.
Can't adopt but still want to help this dog? Click on the "Sponsor Me" button at the top of this page to donate toward his/her care! All donations are tax-deductible and go directly toward the care of our rescue dogs. Thank you for your support!
