Takoda-VA's Story...
Takoda is a 3-4 year old male Great Dane. In an effort to place him in a more "breed specific" rescue we are working with another rescue to bring this guy in. He is partially blind, though we feel that he can see shadows depending on how light it is. Takoda is neutered and gastropexied, current on vaccines, microchipped and current on prevention.Takoda loves LOVES people and children but due to his size and inability to see, a home with children 8 years and older will be considered only. He is good with cats, small dogs, large females- and non dominant males. We will begin screening interested homes for him in mid April. Takoda is located in Suffolk, VA. We are still seeking an experienced foster home for him at this time.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Takoda-VA, a Virginia Beach Great Dane dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Great Dane for sale in Virginia Beach, or seeking a Great Dane dog from a breeder in Virginia Beach.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Virginia Beach already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Virginia Beach breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Great Dane breeders who help with Great Dane rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Virginia Beach paves the way for another one to be saved.
