Facts about Cricket (lap cat)

  • Breed: Domestic Shorthair
  • Color: Orange Or Red Tabby
  • Age: Adult
  • Sex: Female
  • ID#: 13-14
  • Hair: Short
Cricket is a vibrant orange and white girl waiting for her forever home.
She is very much interested in sitting on your lap whenever possible, although does not love being picked up and carried around. She enjoys being around people, but is a little quirky, so would do best in a single cat home with no small children. (In her foster home she co-existed with other cats, but never became friendly with them- she may feel a bit defenseless because she has no teeth. Cricket had stomatitis, an auto immune condition that seriously affected her gums. Last year all of her teeth were removed by a dental surgeon. She eats regular cat food now, both dry and canned. She is young but has had a tough life. She was abandoned outside a dumpster and brought to a municipal shelter, then turned over to BCC. She is the type of cat one can form a very strong bond with, once she learns to trust you. Cricket will happily spend her life in the lap of a person she loves! Her foster mom is extremely sad about bringing her back to the shelter for adoption but feels Cricket would do better in a household of fewer cats.

About Branford Compassion Club

About Our Shelter...

Branford Compassion Club (BCC) is a non-profit feline rescue organization that serves not only Branford, CT, but surrounding shoreline towns. The mission of the club is to provide for the feeding, shelter and care of homeless, abandoned and feral cats; to educate the public about the importance of spay/neuter population control, responsible pet ownership and kindness to animals; and to establish an ongoing community network to achieve these goals.

Branford Compassion Club was founded in November 1997,
by a handful of compassionate Branford residents concerned
with the growing population of feral cats. The residents united to form BCC to alleviate the hunger and suffering of feral cats in this community.

Come Meet Our Pets...

The Branford Compassion Club is an all volunteer organization, and as such we are only able to be open on Saturdays from 11-3. If you need to come in at a different time, please send an email to contact_us@branfordcompassionclub.org and we would be happy to set up an appointment with you.

Our Adoption Process...

At the Branford Compassion Club, we do require a potential adopter to fill out an application, which includes vet history and references, and is then reviewed by an officer of the shelter. Adoptions may happen the same day, if possible. There is an adoption fee of $95 for adult cats and $150 for kittens, this fee helps to offset the cost of all the medical procedures done prior to adoption such as:

Medically checked by a veterinarian
Tested for Feline Leukemia and Feline AIDS
De-wormed and De-fleaed
Vaccinated against Distemper and Rabies (over 3 months of age)
Spayed/Neutered
