Hi I’m Tonka! I may be a small package, but my foster people tell me that I’m a big sweetheart! I am what they call a Chi-Weenie, meaning a Chihuahua-Dachshund cross around 15 lbs. I still have some puppy attitude being around 1.5 years old.
I get along great with other dogs, and I don’t mind feline friends either. When New Hope Rescue found me, I was a very shy and timid boy, but after awhile of being around people that I learned to trust, I got right to being silly and playful! I love to get many pets and love chewing on bones. I also enjoy a good game of fetch!
I can sometimes be unsure of new people and new situations… I mean, who isn’t a little shy sometimes! So it would be great to have a forever family that understands how to make me confident and comfortable in these situations, and who are also calm and collected, so that I can learn that things are not so scary. I will let my true personality show through when I feel safe and comfortable.
Of course, I’m sure you want to know that I am a very smart boy. I already know “sit”, “lay down”, and “go to your bed.” I have done very well with crate and house training. I enjoy being around people as much as possible, and with some practice, I have adjusted to when they are not home.
Most of all, though, I love to cuddle!!! I like to be around people and to get in as many snuggles as they will let me. I would love to have a home with kids and another dog to play with, if that’s possible. I wouldn’t mind all the attention as a single pet either.
I have all the important stuff up to date, in case you were wondering. I am neutered, fully vaccinated, dewormed and micro-chipped.
