Aja is an owner surrendered Golden retriever/Australian Shepherd mix. We intercepted her when being turned in to Memphis Animal Shelter. Aja is energetic and youthful, her owner said three years old but the vet who spayed her suggested she is closer to one year. She weighs 30-35 lbs. The person surrendering her reported that she had primarily been an outside dog, but she is doing a fantastic job adjusting to life indoors. She is house and crate trained and gets along great with the three other dogs she is currently living with. She still has puppy energy and enjoys going for walks and running around in the backyard to get some of her energy out. She walks very well on leash and does not pull unless she sees a squirrel. She is very affectionate and will roll over for belly rubs. She would make a great addition to any family due to her sweet nature. She is heartworm negative, microchipped and on prevention. Her adoption fee is $200
We adopt dogs from Memphis Animal Shelter when we can. The shelter has an 83% euthanasia rate, one of the highest in the country. Unfortunately, any dog coming from Memphis Animal Shelter, and most other shelters for that matter, will have been in contact with contagious illness. Even though the dogs have been in foster care and appear to be in good health, they may become stressed when changing environments and exhibit signs and symptoms of illness. If you have other pets, they need to be up to date on vaccines before bringing a shelter dog into your home. We will take the adopted animal back, but we are not responsible for your other animal's vet care. We always disclose where the dogs have come from. Please ask for any information about the dogs and exercise due caution if you have immunocompromised animals.
