I want to introduce Real Justice, he is five years old and he needs someone to give him a chance. 14 starts, 2 seconds, 2 thirds. Two starts in 2015. He was claimed in February and came out of the race with a knee injury. His new owner/trainer has tried to keep him and give him the time to heal, not to race him but to give him a chance at a trail or pleasure life. She has run out of time and options and has asked us to help. While I would love to take him on, we are full and don’t have room for another rehabilitation horse. He needs several more months of stall rest, then some turn out time and finally he can be ridden, not as a jumper, but as a trail or pleasure horse.
We are hoping someone would be willing to adopt him and do the rehab but this baby boy is running out of time so I am looking for any other suggestions to help him. It has crossed my mind to try to collect funds to cover the cost of his rehabilitation and I would be open to that – we just need funds to cover his cost as we have allocated all of our finances and will have to wait to see what the spring grant season gives before we can take on more horses.
From his current owner: “He has a chip in a right lower knee joint too big to be taken out and to small to put a screw in. He can never be a jumper but with given enough time to heal he can be a low lever riding horse. I claimed him from a race where he got hurt and don’t know much about, but previous riders said he was good to ride. He has been on a stall rest for 20 days now, and has been really good in the stall ( doesn’t kick or bite, loves carrots, sweet potatoes and peppermints ) . Thank you”
