Lucy's Story...
During November and December, Peninsula Friends of Animals is highlighting four very special kitties. The “Home for the Holidays” program features four felines who have been temporarily residing at Safe Haven, PFOA’s cageless, no-kill animal shelter and adoption center. These kitties are the longest term residents of Safe Haven - all of them have been with us for almost two years. We would love to see all of them happily settled in their own forever homes in time for the holidays!

Lucy is an adorable, somewhat shy black short-hair youngster with large, pale gold eyes. She came to the shelter 20 months ago with her brother, Louie. The two of them had been trapped as tiny ferals and well-socialized by their foster mom, who brought the two bonded kitties to Safe Haven when they were about six months old. Lucy will sit and watch what Louie does, and when she feels safe, she will emulate her brother or join in the games. The two of them are fun to watch! At just over two years old, Lucy would really like to be in her very first, forever home, with her bonded brother, Louie, in time for the holidays!

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Lucy, a Port Angeles Domestic Shorthair cat was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Domestic Shorthair for sale in Port Angeles, or seeking a Domestic Shorthair cat from a breeder in Port Angeles.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Port Angeles already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Port Angeles breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Domestic Shorthair breeders who help with Domestic Shorthair rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Port Angeles paves the way for another one to be saved.
