My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Coby is 13 years old, but has the energy of a puppy. He is a happy little man. He loves to run at the park, go for walks, gives sweet hugs and kisses. He is really an angel dog. Coby has always used puppy pads and we are working on being housebroken. He needs to go frequently because of his age, so he would be great for someone that is home a lot. He doesnât like to get brushed, especially his legs. Sometimes when you pick him up â even though you are careful, he yelps out like he hurts â so he may have some arthritis in his joints. He is a quiet dog that likes to take long naps and sleeps throughout the night without a peep out of him. He is very content just sitting next to you for company and would be great for a retired person (especially a lady). He gets along with cats and other dogs - as long as they like to get kisses. When you leave and come back home he does his little "happy dance" for you showing you how much he missed you. He would probably do better with older kids than younger because he may jump up and accidently knock a little person down. He has soft toys he likes to play with although he doesn't quite know how to fetch them. He knows sit, shake, lay down, (pointing your finger & say) go to your blanket, go to your crate, go to your room and go eat. Coby does have skin allergies (itching and scratching) if he eats dog food with corn in it. He has only a couple of teeth left so his food needs to be soft enough to chew â so can food is the best. He has been neutered and is up-to-date on vaccines, heartworm and flea preventative. If you would like to be considered to adopt Coby, you must first apply. Then please contact linda@schnauzerrescue.net. If you've already applied, please contact linda@schnauzerrescue.net to be added to the list of those being considered. To apply on-line, please go to our website http://www.schnauzerrescue.net and click on the on-line application. Rescue Schnauzers usually weigh between 15-25 pounds, they are up to date on shots, heartworm tested and spayed or neutered prior to placement. We make reasonable efforts to evaluate the health and temperament of each dog, however we cannot make any guarantees. We are not a shelter and do not have a central facility. All dogs are kept in foster homes located throughout the area we cover. PLEASE NOTE: We rescue schnauzers in Delaware, Maryland, Virginia, Washington DC and southern Pennsylvania. We can only accept applications within a reasonable driving distance of our areas of coverage. Please read the list at the top of the on-line application to see if you are in our area. For a rescue contact in other areas, please go to our website http://www.schnauzerrescue.net and click on Rescue Links. We have a need for volunteers in Maryland, Virginia, Pennsylvania and New Jersey. Our website also features lots of great information about the rescue process, book reviews and training tips - plus the best schnauzer items for purchase! All proceeds benefit schnauzers in need. Thanks for your support!
