My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Bailey is a Yorkshire Terrier/Poodle mix who is about 3 years old and weighs 12 lbs. She was super scared at the shelter and did not let anyone approach her. She was almost euthanized but a foster home opened up to give her a second chance. She is now much more confident, playful and happy, although she still protects her space. She has fear aggression and nips when certain new people try to handle her or enter her home.

Bailey is housebroken and loves to go on walks and is great on the leash. She is cautious around strangers (especially men) but quickly warms up to those who respect her boundaries. She is good with cats and dogs and is generally a well trained little girl. She loves her toys (ropes are her favorite chew toys). She has some separation anxiety and cries when left alone, but we are working on that.

We do not recommend her for a home with small children but she should be ok with older kids. We would like to see her settled with a patient, loving and experienced owner who can help build on the progress she has already made. She is ready to take the next step with a foster/owner who can give her a little more attention with a professional trainer provided by Dogs Without Borders. Anyone willing to give it a try?
