My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

There's nothing quite like puppy energy and silliness...and then they lie quietly on your shoulder breathing their warm baby breath. They're so pure and vulnerable that it's unbearable to think of them in a high-kill shelter! Olivia at only 16 weeks old and about 22 lbs (is estimated to be full grown at about 40 lbs), was facing the end of her life before it ever began. Farfel's Texas rescuers are compassionate and loving and couldn't turn their back on this puppy...they rescued Olivia just in time. This sweet and engaging Terrier/Porty mix is starting out with great energy...the excellent results of her temperament-testing ended with a transport ticket to Colorado and a new life. She's also incredibly beautiful...with the gorgeous charcoal black hair with the purest-white chest.
Olivia is appropriately playful and inquisitive for her young age. She's so smart and very engaging...so typical of a Terrier mix. She's also silly and so loving (once comfortable)...clearly having no memory of her scary start. Since Olivia is just a baby, she's a blank slate just waiting for a kind and patient human to show her the way. She has all the potential in the world to be an awesome companion - she will form firm bonds with her family (as well as other dogs & humans) and learn positive socialization skills through Puppy Socialization Class followed by positive reinforcement group Obedience Classes. It does take time and commitment...yet pays off a thousand times over when you have a dog that can accompany you in the world with appropriate behavior.
We're open to Olivia finding her forever home with a very active retired couple or individual with lots of energy to train and enjoy a puppy. Olivia appears to be great with children (however may be too active for very young or elderly individuals) as well, but we would prefer to place her in a home with kids 8+ that can participate in a gentle yet consistent puppy training regimen.
Olivia is up to date on her vetting. She has just been microchipped, vaccinated and spayed to be in line with our commitment to be a part of the solution to pet overpopulation.
Olivia is either a non-shedding or very lightly shedding puppy. It's a bit difficult to tell for certain until she loses her puppy hair and her adult coat grows in. She will therefore require periodic grooming and great nutrition to keep her very beautiful coat healthy and matt-free.

Olivia will be arriving on transport in Denver on 3/27/15. If interested in this very sweet and fun companion, please fill out an application at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/ and submit to farfelsapps@gmail.com.
