My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

This is Irving, a 10+ year old sweet gentle pug who has spent his entire life in a puppy mill as a stud dog. He came to us with rotted teeth, dirty ears, an old scar on his eye, long nails, and covered in the stench of feces from an Amish puppy mill in PA and will be ready for adoption very soon... email an application if you are interested.

Meet our newest puppy mill rescues who have finally been freed from their prisons today thanks to our friends at No More Tears Rescue-Puppymill Dog Rescue! They have all lived sad lonely lives of neglect, in cages with little human contact, their only purpose to pump out litter after litter of puppies to be sold in pet stores- yes, all pet store puppies come from mills/commercial breeders no matter what the store owners claim (unless they are a store that only offers rescue dogs for adoption of course). They are understandably timid at first and will need some time and patience to adjust to living in a real home, but are sweet-natured and eager to please. They are more comfortable around other dogs and will need a home with at least one other friendly dog to help show them the ropes and teach them to trust. They will all be getting spayed/neutered, updated on shots, heartworm tested, treated for eye/ear/skin infections as needed, and most need dentals to pull rotted teeth. Thanks to our vets at the Animal Clinic of Morris Plains for once again accommodating these 6 special dogs so they can quickly get the medical care they need. Please email njwoof@cs.com for more info on adopting or fostering one of our puppy mill rescues. Puppy mill rescues are expensive for us to save- each dog's care can cost anywhere from $300-1000+ to prepare them for adoption. Please consider donating through our website www.secondchance.petfinder.com so we can continue to help these victims of greed. And remember, NEVER buy a puppy from a pet store- you are directly paying to support the continued imprisonment and neglect of that puppy's parents and others like them.

We do not have a shelter- all our pets are in foster homes and can be seen by appointment only during the week, or at our weekly pet adoptions every Sunday at the Animal Clinic of Morris Plains from 12:30 to 3PM at 3009 Route 10 East next to 5 Star Car Wash (formerly Boulder Car Wash) in Morris Plains (Denville on GPS). To help us better match a pet to your household, we request you fill out an application on our homepage www.secondchance.petfinder.com and copy and paste it into an email, or print it and bring it to our adoption day when you come. Local inquiries only please- we do not do long distance adoptions.
