Tippsy's Story...

Tippsy was picked up from the Shelter and once she was home she started vomiting and had diarrhea. She was taken to the hospital where she was given medication and the doctor kept her to be sure she was ok. They were not certain what caused the problem but she did not vomit while she was hospitalized. She did have really bad hookworms which they treated. She also had an upper respiratory infection. Chest x-rays showed mild heart enlargement from the heartworms. Her lungs looked good. The rest of her blood work was normal. She is back at her temporary foster home and is recovering from her ordeal.

Poor Tippsy was overlooked at the Shelter by other rescue organizations because she tested positive for heartworms. This seems to be a far too common occurrence, but we could not let Tippsy die so we stepped in to help.

We will have more to report after she is seen by one of our veterinarians and she is settled into her temporary foster home.

In the meantime if you think you can help we are sorely in need of donations and foster homes. PLEASE HELP anyway you can.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Tippsy, a Sunderland Boxer dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Boxer for sale in Sunderland, or seeking a Boxer dog from a breeder in Sunderland.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Sunderland already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Sunderland breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Boxer breeders who help with Boxer rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Sunderland paves the way for another one to be saved.
