My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

This dog is being fostered in Dallas, Texas and must be adopted within the Dallas, North Central Texas or Oklahoma area.

NAME: Lana
GENDER: Female (Spayed)
AGE: About 1 year
WEIGHT: About 8 Pounds
DOGS/CATS: Great with other small dogs, Good with cats
CHILDREN: Should be fine with children who are calm

Lana is a sweet Chihuahua who is looking for a family to love and nurture her as she grows. She has a beautiful golden coat and cute ears. Her eyes pierce your heart!

Lana was rescued from a hoarder situation. She was having to fight for attention with over 30 other Chihuahuas, and because of this, has not gotten much human attention in the first several months of her life. But she is super sweet and is longing to be loved and to feel normal. She is learning social skills and she is super smart, so she is picking up new skills daily. Her new family will need to be patient with her as she warms up in her new forever home.

Lana loves the other small dogs in her home. She feels comfortable having other dogs in the home with her. She loves to sit and lay next to them. She enjoys playing with her doggie friends and copies what they do! Lana is really good at knowing limitations when playing with different sizes of dogs, cats and other animals. Another young foster puppy recently was added to her foster home and she loves to play with the puppy. She knows that she can be rougher with the adult dogs and then knows how to play gentler with a smaller or younger dog. She also has been in a previous foster home where she and a cat got along and played with each other. So Lana will be a good playmate for the other dogs and cats in the home.

Lana also loves toys. She enjoys playing with stuffed squeaker toys, balls, and nylabones. She loves to be outside and bask in the sun. And her golden coat shines when she is outside! She also loves meal time and chows down breakfast and dinner.

Lana adores her humans. Lana is a bit shy, and needs time to warm up to strangers. When you first meet her, she prefers the humans to let her come to them when she is ready to approach. Once Lana does warm up, she loves to come and cuddle with you on the couch as well as jump up on the bed to hang out with you. She is polite and doesn't ask for scratches very often, but sure loves a good scratch when it is offered to her. She is very sweet, mellow and doesn't bark. It's only when you come home that she might bark a few times because of excitement. Lana also gets along with older, calmer children who understand Lana's need to warm up to them first. At 8 pounds, she is a great size. And she is young, ready to grow and blossom with your entire family.

Lana is really smart. She is potty trained and has learned to use the doggy door. Lana has also learned to like being in a crate. She sleeps in one at night and will hang out in it sometimes during the day as well. She does fine when left crated when no one is home, but once humans come home she gets very excited and wants to get out to greet you and her other doggie friends. She just wants to share some love with her humans!

Lana is spayed, micro chipped, up-to-date on shots, HW negative and on heartworm prevention. She is ready to join a loving family - could that family be yours?
