Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Sadie is listed as "special needs" only because she is very shy and startles
easily. She shows no inclination to fear bite. At her worst, she will bark
and try to escape to somewhere safe.
Sadie will need a little time to relax and secure in her new home. Then
she'll follow you from room to room. She likes to nap quietly (softly
sighing and snoring) curled in a corner of any room her people are using.
When friends visit, Sadie is nervous at first, but soon settles quietly into
the group.
Her first walks on lead were very stressful. With every walk she gets less
fearful. She may always be a nervous dog, but now she reacts much less to
"scary" things. Her head is up, her tail's wagging-she likes her walks. A
Gentle Leader harness helps Sadie walk without pulling.
Sadie has perfect house training, and likes her crate. She barks briefly as
her people leave the house, and is ecstatic at their return. Sadie is quiet
otherwise. She sits promptly on command, and responds well when told "no" or
"off." She shows no prey drive at all. She does fine with other dogs. Sadie
is happy to get in the car, and rides quietly.
Sadie is a real sweetie; and it shows more and more as she settles in. She
has come a long way. At first she was afraid of everything, and spent much
of her time hiding in corners. She was even afraid of being petted. Now
she's OK with being hugged and cuddled, and likes being petted and
scritched. She will continue to blossom in a calm home with gentle,
confident people to help her discover that the world is perhaps not really
so scary after all.
