My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Axel is an affectionate, charming dog, full of energy and very comical to watch. He is moderate energy looking for a pal who he can enjoy his daily walks with. Axel is a healthy boy who has moderate energy and is friendly with everyone. He enjoys his baths and loves to be brushed. Axel is approximately 3 - 4 years old and currently weighs 33 lbs.

Here is what else his foster family had to say:

Axel is very social and friendly with everyone, including children and other dogs. We have not had him around cats so are unsure how he would be. He is very east going even when another dog steals his treats. He just goes and stands in the spot to ask for another. He becomes shy and timid when he thinks he has done something wrong. He is doing with our dog Angel and he has been lovely with other dogs.

We have been crate training so no concerns when we leave. A couple of barks but appears to settle well. He also sleeps in his crate at night and settles easily as well. He is not good at letting you know he needs to go out but we have him on a good routine and he is fine. He goes out for an am and a pm walk and then we leave him in the backyard for 30 mins or so in the afternoon. He is unsure of loud noises and will cower but as he is more socialized to city living that lessens. He just wants to be loved. He isn't a needy dog but he loves having his belly rubbed, and enjoys a good run. He is quiet in the house for the most part.

Axel has tried to steal other dogs food but he takes correction well. He knows his basic commands such as sit, shake a paw and stay. He walks nicely on leash but he is a hound so when he smells something he will pull a little but is easy to correct. He is great in the backyard and does not try to get out of the yard but he will bolt out the front door if you let him. We crate him when we take him out in the car and he is fine.

Axel is a very curious boy and I think he would do well in a busy household with children and another friendly dog. He would definitely need to be treated as a loved member of the family. He really needs and enjoys his walks and someone to play with in the backyard would be great. He is really just a funny lovey dog and will fit well into most family settings. He would not do well be left on his own all day and would get pretty lonely.

If you think Axel would be a good addition to your family, please submit an application for consideration.
