Macaulay's Story...
Macaulay is a friendly, happy, affectionate, incredibly loving, adorable and playful little kitty boy. He was rescued in a parking lot in the bitter cold this winter. He’s still really a kitten, and now that he’s eating up a storm, instead of out in one, he’s growing and flourishing! Macaulay loves people and loves to be petted and held. He’s a fun little fellow, happy to have any affection, and is affectionate in return.

Macaulay was found in a parking lot in Columbia Heights D.C., starved and thin. He was lost or abandoned, so emaciated that his ribs were sticking out. Finally he came upon a big parking lot where people were getting in their cars to go to work. People! Yay! He ran up to some nice ladies and told them loudly that he was cold, hungry and needed to be rescued-fast! So they petted him and held him and called a 4Paws volunteer they knew of in the neighborhood. She brought a carrier and a can of food, and took lucky Macaulay to the vet where he got warm and ate another huge breakfast!

So Macaulay was saved! Now he’s looking for a perfect new home with someone to love and play with and snuggle with and have a lifetime of cuteness, fun, and good care! We know he’ll make someone very happy and his story will end with “and they lived happily ever after!”

Macaulay was born in May 2014. He has been neutered, tested negative for FIV and feline leukemia and is up to date on all his shots.

Macaulay, a Merrifield Domestic Shorthair kitten was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Domestic Shorthair for sale in Merrifield, or seeking a Domestic Shorthair kitten from a breeder in Merrifield.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Merrifield already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Merrifield breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Domestic Shorthair breeders who help with Domestic Shorthair rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Merrifield paves the way for another one to be saved.
