My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Champ is male Black Lab mix that is 2 years old and weighs in at 70 lbs. Champ was a stray from Southern Indiana so we don't know a whole lot about him yet. He seems like he came from an inside environment though because he's been very well behaved in the house. Champ is a real people pleaser and just wants to grab some attention from you. He is a good looking guy that is happy all the time. As you can see from the pictures Champ has a nice brindle coloring in his face and on his paws. He just wants to be wherever you are.

Champ is learning the routine where first thing in the morning we get up, go outside and go to the bathroom, then come inside and eat breakfast. We are teaching him some manners and have him sit before we feed him. He's picked up on that pretty quickly and will automatically sit once his food bowl is ready. We have a German Shepherd mix of our own and Champ has had no issues being around him so far. As a matter of fact he loves to play with other dogs so whether Champ will be your only dog or will be an additional pet I'm sure he will do great in either situation. Champ is starting to figure out what toys, balls, ropes and Kong toys are so we will teach him how fun they really are. He enjoys being outside getting some exercise and is really enjoying our fenced in yard. Champ has shown no aggression with food, other dogs or people.

He pretty much knows how to sit, as long as you have his attention. Since Champ is still young and impressionable we would definitely recommend some general obedience classes for him. He should also be crated when left alone, because he will get bored and chew things that are better left alone. He will jump up on you on occasion but isn't awful about it. We did take him for a walk on the leash and he did great. He doesn't really pull and just enjoys being outside.

Champ currently sleeps in his crate, stays in there during the day, and is doing great. He has this pathetic little whimper like let me out, but has no issues and sleeps in there all night. He appears to be potty trained as well and makes it through the night or day with no problems, but as with all new dogs we keep an eye on him and make sure he learns to go outside. Basically all Champ wants is to be loved, played with, given some attention and pet.

I would say Champ has a medium level of energy since he's only 2 years old, and would do great in an environment where he can get some exercise. He doesn't have a problem relaxing but getting him that exercise on a regular basis would be good. I certainly see him being able to go for a walk or jog around the block with you. This good looking guy deserves a forever home and would make a great addition to your family. Champ is up to date on all his vaccinations and has been recently neutered.
