Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Heidi is a very energetic and cute 2 year old red & white beagle who weighs approx. 23 pounds and is about 14" tall. This friendly little girl has lost her family and is in need of a new one to love.
She would like to join an active family with a yard where she can run & explore, and then come inside and curl up on the sofa or on a dog bed beside you. She loves to play with other dogs, and would do well in a home with a playful dog that enjoys a rough-and-tumble romp! Heidi is quite athletic and can keep up with the best of them!
Besides playtime, she also loves to snuggle up next to her foster family members, and she can entertain herself for quite awhile by playing with her doggie toys so she could be an "only" dog if she is kept busy by the humans. While she would love to sleep in bed with you, she is ok with being kenneled at night and will sleep quietly all night in the bedroom. Heidi is house-broken, and is trained to use a doggie door. She enjoys the freedom of going in and out at will. HOWEVER, she is very clever at escaping from a fence if it is not a secure one, so the fence must be escape-proof if you have a doggie door. She has already demonstrated that she can scale a chain link fence and can squeeze under a wrought iron fence, so she is now staying at foster home number 3, with a secure wooden plank fence!
Heidi needs some practice in learning to walk on a leash, and would really enjoy attending an obedience class with her new owner. Our organization is so enthusiastic about obedience classes for the beagles, that we will help with the expenses of it! Heidi's foster mom will explain those arrangements.
As with most beagles, Heidi can be a bit stubborn and a bit loud at times, but in true hound fashion she is very sweet and is a quick learner. She rarely gets into things that do not belong to her. If you have the patience for a darling young beagle that still has some puppy in her, Heidi will be your friend for life!
