My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Jewels is Adopted

Jewels is currently being fostered in Mentor OH, and her adoption fee/donation is $300

Jewels is an 18 month old female cockapoo. She was rescued from Craigslist where she was exposed to ending up just about anywhere. We did not want her being used for breeding or worse, to end up abused. Jewels has already been used to breed twice, and we believe the home she was in may have been a puppy mill or backyard breeder.

Jewels is very tiny, she only weighs 10 pounds, and could use to put on a few more. She is also a special needs little girl, since she was obviously not socialized. Jewels is afraid of being approached by humans, and will run/Bolt in any direction to get away. If she were to ever get loose, she would be gone, no one could possibly catch her!!!
She is 100% a flight risk, and Must go to a home with a secured fenced in yard to assure she can not get away. There are NO exceptions, FENCE IS REQUIRED.

Now, to tell you more about the good in Jewel!! She is plenty young enough to get her past this skittish/fearful nature, and blossom into a normal dog. This will take a special person with experience of puppy mill type dogs. Jewels is not aggressive in any way, she is sweet and loveable, and other than her being a "roadrunner" if she gets spooked, she is a really nice little dog. In our experience with dogs such as Jewels, the progress of these dogs depends on how well the owner works with them on socialization and reactivity to environmental triggers that could set them off in a "run for your life" kinda situation. Usually, about a year is the average rehabilitation time frame, some less, and some could be more.

Jewels also does much better around other dogs, and will not thrive In a home by herself, as she gets her confidence and trust with and through a "pack" of two or more. We have seen her play and act like a typical happy girl when with a group, and be very shy and fearful when by herself. She will allow her foster to pick her up, and hold her, groom her, anything that needs to be done. It's the approach to her that gets her most spooked, and a flight risk.
If you think you are that special person that can help this beautiful girl to thrive, and come out of her shell, then apply today.

Jewels is up to date on all vaccinations and will be spayed on April 8th.
