My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Let me introduce you to lovely Nikki! She is a beautiful Lab/Shepherd cross that is approximately 1 year old. Nikki is the perfect medium (about 40lbs) size for anything you want to do with her from cuddles to car rides to jogging and everything in-between. Nikki has a beautiful auburn coloured coat with some black and tan colouring on her back. Her coat is Labrador soft and her body shape is lean with a solid boxy head. However Nikki’s wrinkly face smiles are likely her best physical feature and she just doesn’t stop with them! Nikki is simply a fun loving dog looking for someone to play fetch or go create new adventures with!

Nikki was found wandering alone and was taken in by a rural animal control facility. Unfortunately many days passed and her owners never came for her so she was deemed an unwanted stray. How her previous owners didn’t come looking for her is beyond comprehension, however we now look at this as an opportunity for Nikki to find a forever home where she will be loved unconditionally! Nikki needs a home now where she will not be allowed to roam free and get lost, and where she can feel confident she will never be lost or abandoned again.

Little sweetheart Nikki would do well in a variety of home situations. Keeping in mind, Nikki is only a year old and will need to work on her skills to grow into a well-behaved dog. Nikki sleeps very well at night in her crate and does not hesitate to take a nap in it either after a long walk! She is full of energy and enjoys all forms of exercise including, walks, tail chasing, fetch and tug of war. Nikki is very curious and enjoys observing what her foster family is doing. She then decides that’s normally boring and pushes for someone to please play with her. Nikki is fun, happy and a high-energy dog and therefore would do great with a family ready and able to keep up with her. She is no longer a puppy but still young and full of spunk! We feel Nikki would be best suited to a house with a fenced yard to run around in. Nikki is a real delight and is sure to keep you going and happy!

What Nikki loves best is playtime and cuddles with her foster family. She is happiest when playing fetch and getting a few hugs and kisses in-between. Nikki will 90% of the time bring her toy back and encourage you to throw it again. She is a big sap for treats as well and if working on “sit”, “paw” and “lay down” right now. Nikki is a smart dog and is picking up tricks very well! She just gets a little excited sometimes and decides to jump up which we are working hard on correcting by using the correct commands. Nikki will be happy to curl up under your feet or alone in her bed once she is tired out. In addition, Nikki has been a very good girl and has had no accidents inside. She can stay comfortably in the crate while her foster family isn’t at home and again sleeps perfectly at night! With all Nikki’s sweet qualities it is crazy how she became an unwanted stray.

Nikki is very good with other dogs and has settled in nicely with her foster dog siblings. Nikki is always ready to play and would do really well with another friendly, well-behaved dog that enjoys playing as much as her! She has not been exposed to cats but we feel Nikki would be good with them as long as she is taught early on that they aren’t speaker toys to chase. Nikki is not being fostered with children but we believe her loving carefree nature would do just fine with them. Nikki would enjoy most a foster family that is ready to have some fun!!!

If you are looking for an active, fun and loving dog then Nikki is the one for you. She is in need of a family that is committed to furthering her training and making sure she gets exercised and loved every single day. She will give you lots of love back and is sure to become a loyal companion for her new family. Does Nikki sound like the right dog for you????
