About Muscatine Humane Society

About Our Shelter...

The mission of the Muscatine Humane Society is to educate the public of the importance and dire necessity to spay and neuter their animals to prevent the needless suffering that follows pet overpopulation. Concurrently, the society provides a safe haven for lost or abandoned animals until thier owners or new homes can be obtained. We serve 2000 homeless pets annually.

Come Meet Our Pets...

Our hours are 10-4 Mon, Tues, Thurs ,Fri and 10-2 Saturdays. We are closed Wed, Sun and holidays. We also own the Canine Activity Center of Muscatine where we offer dog training and adopters get a discount. We offer a puppy class for pups aged 12-18 weeks old, a small breed and a large breed beginning obedience class, a level 2 obedience class and an advanced obedience class. We offer occasional Rally and Tracking classes and three levels of canine agility.

Our Adoption Process...

All of our pets are vet checked and spayed or neutered, vaccinated, dewormed, heartworm tested, and temperament tested prior to adoption. Dogs are $80 if previously altered and if our vet does the surgery, then females are $150 and males are $135. Cats are $65 either way but all summer long adult cats are $32.50 and kittens can be adopted 2 for 1. We do require a pre-adoption application and we do have an adoption contract also.
