Piper's Story...

Piper gets her name from her past life when her only shelter was a drainage pipe. One of our volunteers noticed her homeless and starving, and took her in. Piper’s origins could not be determined, but it’s clear she has had a litter of puppies. At Safe Haven, given a nutritious diet, Piper has quickly gained weight. We’ll never know her full story, but we do know she is the friendliest of dogs and a pretty one, too. We guess she was about a year old in late June 2009.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Piper, a Las Cruces Labrador Retriever/American Pit Bull Terrier dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Labrador Retriever/American Pit Bull Terrier for sale in Las Cruces, or seeking a Labrador Retriever/American Pit Bull Terrier dog from a breeder in Las Cruces.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Las Cruces already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Las Cruces breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Labrador Retriever/American Pit Bull Terrier breeders who help with Labrador Retriever/American Pit Bull Terrier rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Las Cruces paves the way for another one to be saved.
