My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Penelope is a Take Me Home courtesy post. Penelope is not affiliated with Take Me Home. She is not under our care. Take Me Home is not responsible for any adoptions through private parties. For more information about Penelope Pei email julia@adogsliferescue.org.

Penelope is a stunning girl who was roaming the streets for months before she was rescued. She would cover a large amount of area everyday scrounging for food and ended up living in an area near a school where she could find refuge within a loosely fenced area. Once she was caught and brought to safety she immediately relaxed placing her head gently into the good samaritan's lap. We all knew right then that this pup was just looking for a person/family with whom to belong.

Because she has been thru so much she is still skittish out in the noisy world, but in the home environment she is eager to please, gregarious, affectionate and goofy. She is only a year old and so in ways still a puppy. She has been great meeting other dogs and new people. We do not know yet how she is with children, but if the kids are well mannered with dogs we suspect she will be fine. This would need to be explored more though if placement is with a family. Also, because of her background we have to make sure that wherever she goes it is very secure. We don't want this sweet girl finding herself lost again. A home visit will be done as part of the process of adoption so that together we can work with the adopter to make sure everything is secure for her and cover any questions anyone might have.
