My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

GINGER – love me and I’ll love you back!!!!

Folks, you won’t be able to resist this adorable, little love bug – Ginger is very sweet and looking for a home in a nice, quiet environment. This sweetie found herself at a High Country Animal Shelter with few opportunities to find a great, permanent, loving home. Ginger’s daddy recently died and her family members elected not to keep her – how sad is that!!!

She is a purebred beagle, approximately ten years old, and is at a proper weight of 37.9 lbs. Ginger now has her full vaccinations (rabies which is good for three years, distemper-parvo, and bordatella), previously spayed, and has her micro-chip too. Ginger is house-broken and knows a doggie door. She is healthy and her teeth are in great shape. This beautiful girl will need a home with all adult folks, no small children please. She is good with other dogs but will be perfectly happy in an “only doggie” home, don’t know about the kitties.

WHAT I LIKE:
• Lots of lovin’ and being close, but I won’t sit on your furniture.
• I love people food. But, it’s not good for my weight. I can do fine on my food; although if you drop something, I would like to clean up the floor for you.
• I like my bed. If you put it in your bedroom, I feel safe and not alone. I won’t bother you, because I am sleeping. Warning: I snore – not too loudly and not all night.
• I love to lay by the front of the door and do my people watching.
• If you lay a quilt or blanket on the floor by where you relax, I like to take naps there.
• I don’t play with a lot of toys, but I love rawhide chews.
• I don’t get in the trash.
• I don’t bother anything you own.
• I love to go for walks. I won’t pull and I don’t walk fast. Even 5 minutes is enough to satisfy me. Sometimes I’ll bark at the door if I want to go for a walk.
WHAT I DON’T LIKE:
• The kennel: I will cry until you let me out. Then I won’t cry anymore. I don’t bother anything when you leave me alone. Give me a doggie door or make sure I go potty before you leave or before bedtime. If you’re going to be gone for a while, please give me a rawhide chew so I am busy and don’t feel so lonely. But I also might just take a nap.
• Not a huge fan of baths, but will tolerate it to enjoy fun times with rolling in the grass.
WHAT I DO:
• I love you back.
• I snore, and I snort like a pig when I am smelling things.
• I use the doggie door.
• I might beg for some people food, but I’m not annoying. Be careful what you give me – I think that’s how I put on these extra pounds. Love my dry food moistened – yum, yum!
• I’m pretty lazy - - I like to just hang out.
WHAT I NEED:
• Lots of lovin’.
• Training: I sit. I’m good with that unless you need me to do something else.
• Medications: I take vitamins and Glucosamine for my joints. I don’t think I have a problem, I don’t even limp 
• I’m pretty low maintenance, but I’m here for you when you need me. A pat or two on the head throughout the day always makes me feel good.
