My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Gator is a sweet, laid back boy looking for a lifetime of cuddles. He is a special needs case as he does have hip dysplasia. At this time it can be controlled with joint supplements and pain medication when needed (high activity days) and surgery is not required. (our vet is happy to write a letter to any potential adopters explaining this.) If at any time the pain management no longer works, surgery may be necessary so this is something adopters need to be prepared for. He is 6 years old and weighs 57lbs. He should stay fit and lean, to ensure there is no added stress on his hip to help make sure he stays happy and healthy for as long as possible. Gator LOVES to snuggle and be touching his humans and foster siblings.

He does have separation anxiety so his ideal home would be one where someone is home quite often and give him the attention he so desperately wants and deserves. We have worked hard on helping him be more comfortable with alone time with the help of The Behavior Clinic. He will need to remain a patient under their care. They are located in Olmstead Falls. He is on daily medication that will need to be continued as well as the supplement for his hip.

Gator is a playful, goofy boy who makes people laugh easily. He's been great with the other dogs he has met and loves to snuggle them if they'll allow it. He has even been a perfect gentlemen around cats, and a rabbit. It doesn't get much better than this! If you are interested in meeting him and potentially adding him to your family, apply at www.mercysdoorpetrescue.org. His adoption fee is $175 and he is already neutered, vaccinated, HW-, microchipped, on monthly flea/tick/HW preventatives, and will come with at least one month of his daily medications and joint supplement.
