Hi! My name is Betty. Some very concerned people found me wandering around a field in Homestead, so they let me go on a car ride with them and brought me to the shelter where I live now. I can seem kind of scary at first because I’m a pretty big girl, but I promise I’m really sweet. I love going on walks, playing fetch with pinecones, learning to do new tricks for treats, anything that involves interacting with my people here. Even though I can tell they love me here, I still want to find a family of my own to love and protect. If you have a family with older children and no cats I’m sure I would get along great with you. I would love to have you visit and see if I’m the right dog for you.

About Furry Friends Adoption, Clinic and Ranch

About Our Shelter...

The Humane Society of Greater Jupiter/Tequesta d/b/a Furry Friends was founded in 1985 and was the second humane organization in the state of Florida to open a low-cost spay / neuter hospital. With between 7-10 million animals a year being killed in our nation’s shelters, Furry Friend's mission first and foremost has always been to reduce the over population of unwanted pets in our community. We do not believe that euthanasia is the answer to dealing with the pet over population crisis. Our charitable hospital offers low-cost spay / neuter services. We have sterilized over 75,000 animals over the past 24 years, preventing hundreds of thousands of unwanted puppies and kittens from being born and thousands more from being needlessly destroyed.

A few years after establishing the charitable hospital, Furry Friends opened one of the only true no-kill shelters in South Florida. The shelter reserves it’s space for animals who have been abused, neglected, injured and abandoned. We are a charity surviving on donations alone, and our capacity is limited. For the welfare of the resident animals, we cannot exceed our capacity. Cages are not vacated by routine euthanasia. They become available only through adoption.
