My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Gigi once had a loving home. She had a Dad who cared for her and the other dogs living in the home. Unfortunately, the dogs were not spayed or neutered, so Gigi became pregnant at a very young age. Then her Dad had a stroke and pregnant Gigi ended up in the shelter. Gigi gave birth to 3 pups in the shelter. The shelter is not where puppies should be born. The shelter workers do their best, but they can’t watch young mamas and their pups enough to know if there are problems, and with all the dogs, shelters are just not a healthy place for young, vulnerable immune systems. Only 1 of Gigi’s pups survived. Noah’s Bark rescued Gigi and her pup when he was only 1 week old. Gigi was a terrific mama and her baby thrived. The pup was 6 weeks old and Gigi’s mama duties were almost done when Noah’s Bark rescued 1 week old motherless puppies. The pups wouldn’t take a bottle, so our Gigi Girl stepped in and nursed and cared for those 2 little puppies. She was the best mama, even when she didn’t have to be. She took care of those babies and protected them. No one messed with “her babies”. Those pups are now grown and it’s Gigi’s time to find her forever home.

Now that her mama duties are complete, Gigi is blossoming into the fun-loving, playful young gal she should have always been. Not yet 2 years old, it’s fun to see the spunky Gigi emerge. She is timid and wary of strangers, who can blame her with all she’s been through? But she warms up once she gains trust and confidence. She is very outgoing with her foster family. Gigi is a sweet, loving girl who loves to hang with her person. Whichever room you are in, that’s the one she’s in. She’ll follow you around the house, sit under your desk, and lay on the floor next to your feet while you’re relaxing on the couch. She even likes to take out the trash with you!

At 10 lbs., she has the long legs and grace of a ballerina. Gigi loves playing with and hanging out other dogs. Sometimes she’ll play with them and sometimes she’ll be a little independent. She’s been around children and is fine with them. Gigi doesn’t require extensive exercise, she will be happy to go on casual walks for exercise. Gigi is smart; she’s learned sit, takes treats gently and doesn’t get on the furniture. Gigi is crate trained, she'll go in her crate for a mid-afternoon nap. She is house trained and knows how to use the doggy door. Gigi deserves to be loved and accepted as she did her pups. Can you provide that to her?Our adoptions are restricted to residents of Los Angeles and Orange Counties. We do not ship animals or do long distance adoptions.
