Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Please check our available cats in need of a home on our website:

Have you ever met a cat who has a personality of a dog? Well you should meet Ernest, he follows you everywhere in the house and if you call him he responds, if you talk to him he listens, he is very interactive and always likes to be by your side and being involved in to your daily activities around the house. Words can not describe this smart guy, call us to meet him and you be glad you did. He is one of a kind!

Ernest is a cat who will make his presence known in his new home! He’s chockfull of personality and is 100 percent a “people” cat. (In fact, some would say he’s a bit like a little dog!) He loves to play, and often acts like a big overgrown kitten. What could be better?!

Hey guys, my name is Ernest, the Hemingway cat and I am a very social, interactive, intelligent guy. I love to be held, you can put me on your lap, shoulder or cuddle me like a baby, and in return I would purr purr, but don't forget to scratch my head really good. I am also trained to use a carrier so trips to a vet is no brainer for me.

I love to play with soft little cat toys, throw it in the air and carry them in my mouth around the house. Its really fun to watch me play, sometimes I can even retrieve a toy for you just like a dog.

I am a silver/gray tabby short fur handsome guy, with a great personality, my personality includes: kindness, intelligence, I am gentle and love love people a lot!!!!

Ernest is trained to use scratching post very well!

Hello everyone, my name is Ernest and I am a handsome, about 3 years old, silver/gray tabby boy, with a very expressive gorgeous green eyes, I love to sit next to people and get engaged into their lives, I like to help you read a newspaper, watch TV shows or help you do your work on PC or perhaps posting pictures of me on Facebook.

I am very smart, intelligent guy, I respond when you call me, running to you to see if maybe its time to get brushed or eat or just relax on a couch or play. I love getting brushed.

You see, the best thing about me that I have a great level of energy where I will relax and take good naps, which are very important for cats, you know and once you get home from work, I run to the door to greet you and rub on your legs, and give you few head butts and follow you around the house and did I tell you I can talk with my eyes I know sounds strange but when you talk to me I look at you with my big green eyes and believe me I know what you are talking about.

Did you know, I am also a "polydactyl" cat, I have 6 toes on my front feet, just like Ernest Hemingway's cats. Check out a picture of my fabilous paw with 6 toes here.

Many years ago Ernest Hemingway was given a six-toed cat by a ship's captain.
The story tells that Polydactyl cats have been extremely popular as ship's cats and was brought to America from Britain, and having extra toes allowed cats to hold better to the ship during long months of being in the rocking Ocean.

Nobel Prize-winning author Ernest Hemingway was a famous aficionado of polydactyl cats, after being first given a six-toed cat by a ship's captain. Upon Hemingway's death in 1961, his former home in Key West, Florida, became a museum and a home for his cats, and it currently houses approximately fifty descendants of his cats (about half of which are polydactyl). Because of his love for these animals, polydactyl cats are sometimes referred to as "Hemingway Cats".

To sum everything up, I am also a very gentle cat who just loves people so much.

I have very good manners, litter box trained, use my scratching pad and up-to date on all shots (Distemper, Rabies), neutered, tested negative for FIV/FeLV as well as microchiped.

Call my foster mom to learn more about me and meet me, I am really an awesome cat with a dog alike personality: My foster mom snapped few pictures of me and a video, checked it out here. I am looking good, don't you think?!

More about this rescue

Cat Chance Rescue is a non-profit, small, all volunteer rescue group dedicated to helping cats and kittens find their forever homes.
We believe “Every Cat Deserves a Chance”.
All our cats and kittens are Spayed/Neutered, up to date on Distemper and Rabies shots, tested for FIV/FeLV, microchiped, dewormed and deflead prior to adoption.
We are no-kill rescue and all our cats and kittens are cared for in loving foster homes until placed into forever homes.

Cat Chance Rescue is a group dedicated and committed to promoting pet spay and neuter. We provide information to educate individuals and communities of the importance of responsible pet ownership. We concentrate on spaying and neutering feral cat colonies under TNR (trap-neuter-return) program. This practice reduces unwanted litters.
