Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Kaitlin is a gorgeous dog that obviously favors the grandeur of the Bearded Collie….with just a touch of Terrier for fun. This 2 -2.5 year old, 55 - 60 lb blue/gray beauty is a loving, gentle and kind girl with high self-esteem resulting in a respect for the space of others. Kaitlin is so much fun to be around...she's a happy sort of dog who enjoys lots of exercise and mental stimulation. This is very indicative of the Beardie who is a member of the herding dog group. There couldn't be a more avid hiker and snowshoer for our Colorado mountains than the Bearded Collie..off they trot with that grand gait that makes it seem like they're floating. Kaitlin loves to investigate and do her best in understanding what is expected of her.... definitely a pleaser! Kaitlin would do so well in positive -reinforcement group obedience classes...it would bring out the very best that she's capable of giving and would make her into an extremely well-behaved adult dog.
We envision Kaitlin with an active family...she does great with older kids (10+ would be just right). Her size and enthusiasm make her a bit much for young kids. Kaitlin would be ecstatic to be a part of a family that chooses to include her in their activities...hiking, running, biking and of course...swimming!! Another playful dog in the home would be great fun for Kaitlin as well while channeling her energy in a positive direction through play and canine interaction...therefore a safe fenced yard is mandatory for fun-loving Kaitlin.
We are clear that Kaitlin cannot spend hours and hours alone - we feel that a full-time working family would only be appropriate if Kaitlin goes to work with them, goes to doggie daycare or participates in a midday walk with a neighbor or dog-walker. Too many hours alone will lead to boredom and frustration for any playful young dog. Active retirees would also be a good choice for Kaitlin. If given lots of time and kind boundaries, she will be an extremely bonded and devoted companion.
Kaitlin is a non-shedding girl who will require periodic grooming and great nutrition to keep her amazing coat healthy and matt-free.
Kaitlin is being fostered in Denver. Applications are currently being accepted for this very beautiful and fun-loving companion. They can be found at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/. If interested, please fill out and return to farfelsapps@gmail.com.
