My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

In addition to the following profile for this dog, please first read the Adoption Information at http://www.shihtzurescuemn.org/adopt.html to understand the process, requirements and timeline for adoption. An adoption application can also be found in the Adoption Info section. If, after reading that information, you have any questions, please submit your question via e-mail and it will be answered. Please do not request a phone call. A personal phone call will only be made when an adoption application has been submitted and the foster parent wishes to consider the application. Thank you!

My name is Daisy and I am a sweet, gentle, 4 year old Shih Tzu girl. I have liver and white coloring, and I have a unique brown colored nose. I weigh 14 pounds. I spent my entire life in a puppy mill in Missouri, where I lived in a small crate. My only purpose was to be bred to have puppies. Needless to say, I was not treated very well. Since coming into rescue, I have learned so much about how great life can be. I am still a little hesitant, but very curious! I have already learned the wonder of squeaky toys, the joy of a good belly rub, the exhilarating feeling of running laps in the backyard, and the comfort of sitting in a nice human's lap! I also love my daily walks and it is important for me to find a family that will continue to exercise with me regularly.

My foster mom says she is impressed by how trusting and open I am, but I still take a little while to warm up to new people. I also get very nervous when someone tries to pick me up, but I get better at that every day. I am looking for a forever family that will be patient, consistent and understanding as I continue to learn and grow in this new big world! I am starting to understand the idea of going potty outside, but that is something I will have to keep working on. When my foster parents are gone at work during the day, I occasionally use a piddle pad. I feel very strongly about not being crated, ever, because it brings back bad memories of the puppy mill. At night I like to sleep on the bed with my foster parents and foster dog brother. I will not do well in a home with kids, but I could live happily in a home with or without another quiet, gentle dog.

I am spayed, current on all vaccinations, on a heartworm and flea/tick preventative, and microchipped. I also had a recent dental cleaning. My adoption fee is $320.00 plus MN sales tax of $23.28 for a total fee of $343.28. My foster mom would like my adoptive home to be within a reasonable driving distance from St. Paul, Minnesota and would also like for me to attend the annual Shih Tzu Rescue Reunion held in June every year.

To meet Daisy, please complete an adoption application. Or you can also see him and the other dogs available for adoption from Shih Tzu Rescue of Minnesota by visiting with us from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Minnetonka Petco near Ridgedale the last Saturday of every month.
