Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Mitzi looked every bit the stray as she came into a very high-kill shelter in Texas. It was possible that she had never had a haircut or a bath in her entire 1-year life. Mitzi represents the sad opportunism that is so present in breeding what is considered a designer breed mix. In this case...a Mini Schnauzer and a Toy Poodle resulting in a 7 lb Schnoodle with the sweetest temperament possible. In most cases, these dogs are treated so poorly and disrespectfully…and then disposed of when their perceived use is over. But under all her hair and matts is a gorgeous girl with stunning markings and the sweetest soul ever. Mitzi deserves a great life every bit as much as any other living being. She has a wonderful disposition and through it all, still has the desire to love and be loved. Mitzi is never one to turn down a welcoming lap or a friendly canine companion. She tries so hard to show that she's worthy of a permanent family to adore and respect her. Mitzi's little tail wags hesitantly when she sees a possibility for a pat or any loving gesture. She would be overjoyed if she got attention…it would bring a light to those sad eyes!
Farfel's is searching for that special family for this exceptional (Schnauzer/Poodle mix). We're hoping for a spa day for Mitzi before she arrives in Colorado from Texas...we'd like her hair shaved.. enabling it to grow back into the soft waves that are the hallmark of the Schnoodle mix. Groomers for these urgent rescue dogs are very difficult to find...therefore if Mitzi's foster doesn't choose to groom her, it may not occur prior to transport. If this is the case, Farfel's will be happy to cover the cost for our Denver groomer to make Mitzi gorgeous after her arrival. It will be after this sudsy bath and haircut that you will be able to see the soft glow in Mitzi's kind eyes that speak of a gentle soul.
We're searching for a very loving and committed family that is excited to spend time with a tiny best friend. At 12 - 18 months old, Mitzi is very young and open to learn from the gentle guidance and time put in by people who love her. She will return that devotion a million times over once she understands that she can trust. We feel that Mitzi would enjoy a retired couple or individual or a family with older children 12+ who will be gentle and loving toward Mitzi. It's a new path that this sensitive pup is pursuing…she'll be so successful with the knowledge that she is loved and chosen to be a member of a very special family.
Mitzi appears to be a non-shedding girl...although we'll be able to tell more once she loses her brittle and matted shelter coat. She will therefore require periodic grooming and great nutrition to bring out the beauty and good health of her amazing hair.
Mitzi will be arriving on transport in Boulder on 4/24. If interested in this sweet girl who is full of love and personality, please fill out an application at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/ and submit to farfelsapps@gmail.com or fax to 303-443-7730.
