Chowder's Story...
Meet Chowder! He's a 4 year old yorkie mix who's looking for a loving forever home to call his own. Chowder was recently surrendered to the shelter by his owners, who were expecting a baby and had no time for him. He's a friendly little boy who would do well in a home with other dogs and cats. Prior to being adopted he will be up to date on vaccines, neutered, and will have a microchip. All he's waiting for now is YOU to love him and take him home!

The shelter is open Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 1-5, Tuesday and Thursday from 1-8, and Saturday from 10-2. Come visit!

You can see some of our adoptable pets almost every Saturday at the Petsmart in Greensburg from noon to 6pm and some Sundays too. All adoption fees include spay/neuter and up-to-date vaccinations.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Chowder, a Youngwood Yorkie, Yorkshire Terrier dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Yorkie, Yorkshire Terrier for sale in Youngwood, or seeking a Yorkie, Yorkshire Terrier dog from a breeder in Youngwood.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Youngwood already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Youngwood breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Yorkie, Yorkshire Terrier breeders who help with Yorkie, Yorkshire Terrier rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Youngwood paves the way for another one to be saved.
