My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Age: 14 years
Gender: Female
Color: Liver & White
Weight: 40 lbs
Variety: Field

Miss Rosie and her owner had to say goodbye when her owner moved into a nursing home. Rosie found her way to ESRA and is now ready to find a new family to share her time.

Rosie is in impressive health given that she is fourteen years young! She has low hearing and eyesight, but she can move around as if she were a teenager. At her last checkup, the vet said her blood work was like that of a much younger dog and all systems were go!

Rosie loves going for walks and is a happy, smiling girl the whole time. She walks well on the leash and gets better with each walk. She enjoys being outside in the yard, sniffing and exploring. She is calm and quiet while inside and loves her bed for napping and sleeping. Rosie does not navigate stairs easily, so she would probably not do well with a multi-level house or one with stairs that lead outside. She can physically navigate them, but she has a difficult time judging space and height.

Miss Rosie loves attention from all people, including adults and children, and she never turns down a good ear scratching or belly rub. Rosie is dog and cat friendly, but she would not do well with roughhousing or excessive playing.

She does like to try and sneak out the door with you if given the chance, but she is otherwise an obedient dog. Since she cannot hear verbal commands, her foster family uses hand gestures to get her attention and direct her.

Rosie’s life is driven by food and treats. She loves dinnertime! Watch your fingers because she thinks they all deliver delicious morsels!

She is fully housetrained and can be left for a full workday without any accidents. Rosie has exhibited no destructive behavior, and it appears she just sleeps the day away on her doggie bed when she is left alone.

Rosie is an independent girl, but she loves to follow you around and is very curious and happy.

Miss Rosie needs a Forever Family that will be patient and shower her with love and attention. She doesn’t ask or need much of it, but she sure is grateful and happy when she gets it. She has been through a lot and now needs consistency and a routine so that she knows what to expect. This lovely lady is such a sweet soul, and her face will melt your heart.

Please note that an approved adoption application is the first step in a more thorough interview process that is designed to match each dog to exactly the right family, and that the final decision rests with the dog's case manager.

Please read the Adoption FAQ and get an Adoption Application approved before inquiring about Rosie.
