If a hyper dog is what you're looking for in a companion you'll have to look elsewhere because Maria's motto is "Chill." In fact, the shelter director described Maria by saying "If someone wants a dog to walk in and act like she's always been there, Maria is their dog." This beautiful girl is remaining calm at a kill shelter in Arkansas because she has faith the right person is going to come along and fall in love before her time is up. We sure hope she's right. Maria is a favorite at the shelter because she is so easy-going and smart. Her ideal home would be the Only Dog in an all-female household where she can be a best friend and companion because some men seem to bring back fearful memories for her. She's not a "clingy" dog, but she really enjoys company of women and she'd love to sit beside her person. She doesn't need much -- in fact, she sits, shakes and begs on command and only wants a pat of approval as a reward. Maria is about 5 years old, she weighs about 50 pounds and she's a healthy girl.
