Colleen - ADOPTED's Story...
Colleen is an adorable 1.5 year old Shih Tzu who came to CSTR from a Georgia backyard breeder. She's a sweet, friendly girl who has caught on to potty training quickly and learned to walk well on the leash. She came into the program heartworm positive, has completed heartworm treatment with a negative heartworm test on 5/12/11, has been put on heartworm preventative and is now ready for a home of her own!. Colleen gets along well with other dogs, is fine with cats and would love a home with lots of attention and toys to play with. She does climb chain link fences and so will need to be walked or in a yard with a privacy or iron fence. She would be fine in a home with children over the age of 8. This dog is fostered in Tallahassee, FL, and adoption applications will be accepted from individuals living within a 75 mile radius, which includes Marianna, FL as well as Bainbridge, Thomasville and Valdosta, GA. Why Adoption is a Great Option

Colleen - ADOPTED, a Tallahassee Shih Tzu dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Shih Tzu for sale in Tallahassee, or seeking a Shih Tzu dog from a breeder in Tallahassee.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Tallahassee already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Tallahassee breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Shih Tzu breeders who help with Shih Tzu rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Tallahassee paves the way for another one to be saved.
