My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

ZEKE is a 7 month old neutered black male Lab that weighs 57 pounds. His owner gave him up because he and his littermate “got too wild”. Puppies will do that when not exercised or trained properly! He is 57 pounds at 7 months so will be a big boy! He is well-socialized, good with other dogs, and good with cats. He did fine with other canine companions in his foster home prior to coming to Lab Rescue, is learning leash manners, and working on housetraining. Zeke has always lived with other dogs and will not do well as a single dog. So he must go to a home with another dog to keep him company and guide him. He is a typical lab puppy who will need training and have a training addendum. Zeke is strong and pulls on a leash so an EZ Walk harness would be good for him. Zeke is approved for children ages 10+..

Update (5/22): What a great boy Zeke is!! His new favorite thing to do on his walks is to get a drink from sprinklers and from watering cans when people are watering their flowers. He does not step on the flowers either. He is very mindful of them. He thinks this is the best thing!! He also loves to run his face over the wet grass and get his face wet while he is walking, in addition to licking the water off the grass. How cute!! Tail wagging a mile a minute when he does this. He continues to love his walks and everyone he meets. As I mentioned before , Zeke does well on the leash. He also continues to do well with his basic commands. Zeke is a very friendly, well mannered puppy. He loves to cuddle and be petted. He is going to make such a nice addition to any family.

Update (5/17): Zeke is such a good boy! Everyone falls in love with him when they meet him. He was walking in Old Town yesterday and many people would just stop and meet him because he is so so cute and so good walking an a leash for his age. They couldn’t believe he is still a puppy. Besides being cute and handsome, Zeke is smart. Thursday, I showed him where and how to wake up his human sister for school. Well, Friday morning came and I said, Zeke, go wake her up please. He went upstairs and picked the right door to push open and got my daughter up. I couldn’t believe it. Most important, she did get up right away. What a smart boy!

Update (5/15):What a wonderful boy Zeke is!! He has been here for just about a week and is doing great! He walks wonderfully on a leash, so much so that my 12 yr old can walk him with no problem. He loves everyone he meets, humans and dogs. He knows sit, come and leave it . Yesterday, Zeke had a big test and passed with flying colors! We were all so proud of him. It was his long day at home while everyone was at work and school. He did marvelous!! He received an A+. Zeke has fine tuned his house manners this week and got another A+. Zeke goes to the back door now and lets us know when he wants to go outside. No begging or stealing food from people nor trash cans. He likes his squeaky pig and his stuffed animals. He likes to play fetch with the tennis ball. It amazes me that he is so calm for a 7 month old . He has his excited moments especially when we come home but is very calm in the house for the most part. Did I say what a great boy he is? He loves when you tell him, Good Boy!! He looks up at you with those big eyes and is so happy that he did a good job.

From the transporter: Zeke didn’t make a peep the whole trip. He seemed content to just take a nap once we got on the road. He has such a soft coat. He should find a home quickly.

From the LR vet: Zeke is unusually well-behaved for a pup his age.
