My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Forester Update June 14, 2015: He is a new cat! He is no longer terrified and loves to be pet and brushed. He comes out when you call him to get brushed and even sit on your lap. He is great with other cats too and is curious about toys. A really, really nice gentle cat.

Older bio: Forester is having a hard time right now. He recently came into our shelter. He is terrified of this new world, filled with unfamiliar animals, people and sounds. We wish we knew how to tell him that he is in a safe place now, and that he has nothing to fear. We try to do this with gentle voices and loving touches but he needs more. We can only do so much with so many cats in our shelter.

Have you ever seen an animal so fearful that he will hardly eat, and who’ll let out little cries when he feels the need to express his sorrow? It is no wonder that this cat can’t comfortably settle into his new residence. His first owner dumped him onto anyone that would take him. The second owner claimed to have allergies and so insisted that the shelter take him. I don’t know why a person with cat allergies would have taken poor Forester to begin with, but clearly he has not been treated like the treasure that he is. At three years old he has already had more than his share of anxiety and heartbreak. It’s time for handsome Forrester to have a caring home with someone who will nurture and appreciate him. Russian Blue mixes can be shy at first, but they are very loving and affectionate once they know that they are in a stable environment. Forester needs a quiet home where he can heal from all his emotional wounds. The scars will be left, but we know that the joy will return to him.

I have a cat like Forester. Monroe had a terrible start in life too. He was kept in a dark bathroom his entire life by a woman that was mentally ill. He was terrified and scared of anyone and everything new in his life. He would keep his head down, and pulled away from us at first. He was afraid of getting mistreated as he so often did in his previous life. Now, Monroe is happy and playful. It just took a few short months for him to begin to forget his past.
If you want to know the joy that helping a neglected and most possibly abused cat can bring, I suggest you start right here. The rewards are huge. And in the process you will bring happiness to Forester while enjoying the company of this quiet, gentle and sweet-natured cat. If you ever had someone bring goodness to your life then why not pay it forward. Forester needs you and wants to show you the love he has deep inside.
