** ALL ABOUT OSCAR & PRISSY **
Info from the pound :
Approx Age: 3 years
Approx Weight: 8-10 pounds
Good w/ other dogs: yes
Good w/ cats: Not yet been tested
Housebroken: appears to be !
Other Info: Prissy and Oscar are the cutest little duo ever. They came to us from another shelter where there was no room for them, and we were so excited to be able to offer them a second chance for love.
Prissy and Oscar are a bonded pair and absolutely adore each other. We have promised to keep them together, and we really feel that they would mourn if separated.
Prissy is a little social butterfly and makes friends wherever she goes. She is outgoing and bouncy and loves to be held.
Oscar has a very different personality and, while just as sweet, is absolutely terrified here at the shelter and takes a while to trust new people. He looks to Prissy for comfort and tries to protect her from people at the same time.
Although he takes a while to warm up, once Oscar lets you "in" you know you've got a friend for life. Prissy and Oscar are looking for a loving new indoor home where they came be the center of attention. Although they might be fine with other dogs and cats, we do not recommend this pair going to a home with small children due to Oscar being so nervous. Please consider making them a part of your family!!

UPDATE :
Oscar and Prissy came from a high capacity/high kill shelter in Kentucky May 2015

Oscar is a shorthair deerhead chihuahua
Prissy is a longhair deerhead chihuahua
They are now 4 years old

It was quickly clear that Oscar was terrified of being hurt and chose to try to ward off people by barking and trying to nip,
but thankfully he trusted me and he has came a long way

In the meantime if you do not force yourself on him, then he will take treats nicely, and eventually he chooses to come and sit with you, and will give kisses, or lick your fingers

Prissy is a princess and loves to be held/carried

Oscar and Prissy were fixed, had their vaccines, deworm, and microchip, as well as boosters, and heartworm testing on intake

Oscar also had a time in he winter where he lost a pound, which was 20 % of his body weight – we did all kinds of testing, and special food, and he bounced back

The reduced adoption fee of $700 for the pair does not cover the
cost of the intake vetting, let alone food, and meds/diagnostics

We are looking for a quiet home that will let
Oscar warm up on his own time
(no children please)

*** HOW IT WORKS - ADOPTION INFORMATION ****
Please read ** ALL** the information provided below on the process to
save time and facilitate the process in a smooth manner.

The adoption fee does NOT cover the cost of vetting or supplies for these animals - If you cannot afford the adoption fee
(that is a fraction of actual REDUCED VETTING expenses incurred) then you should reconsider adopting.
These animals deserve forever homes, good food, regular vet care, and emergency care as needed.
Pets should never be euthanized by their owners simply based on financial consideration when something goes wrong.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Bonded- Oscar, a Lucknow Chihuahua dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Chihuahua for sale in Lucknow, or seeking a Chihuahua dog from a breeder in Lucknow.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Lucknow already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Lucknow breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Chihuahua breeders who help with Chihuahua rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Lucknow paves the way for another one to be saved.
