Poppy's Story...
My name is Poppy. I'm a fully house broken terrier mix, I weigh a little less than 25 pounds and I'm in good health. I have been in good health my whole life which has been long and exciting up to this point. Would you believe from this picture I'm 16 years old? My owners can't believe it either but there are a few things that you should know that comes with my years of experience. I can't see or hear perfectly anymore but that doesn't mean I can't run and have fun. Because of my limitations I need a fenced yard and not very many steps. Also because of my age my current family with small children make me nervous so ideally I'd live with some grown ups who are experienced dog owners who love walks with a leash (I tend to wander if I'm not on a leash and because of my eyesight and hearing I can't find my way home). What I'd really like is to not go to shelter so if you don't mind someone who is a little shy at first I can work my way into your heart in no time.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Poppy, a Des Moines Terrier (Unknown Type, Medium) dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Terrier (Unknown Type, Medium) for sale in Des Moines, or seeking a Terrier (Unknown Type, Medium) dog from a breeder in Des Moines.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Des Moines already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Des Moines breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Terrier (Unknown Type, Medium) breeders who help with Terrier (Unknown Type, Medium) rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Des Moines paves the way for another one to be saved.
