Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Hi, humans. I’m Lily Belle and I’m probably one of the best-kept secrets at rescue. In fact, a lot of the volunteers don’t even know about me.
I arrived last year with several other dogs who were dumped outside the kill shelter by a backyard breeder. The other dogs were fairly socialized or adjusted to strange humans; I was not. I was terrified of everyone and hid in my doghouse every time anyone tried to come near me. I needed to be treated for heartworms, though, so I was lucky enough to land a place at the “senior/foster center” with Floyd and the others while I adjusted and became more confident.
It’s taken me awhile to get used to everything — and I mean everything, from walking on a leash to learning how to be a “normal” dog. We were never given that opportunity at our puppy mill. I think I may be ready to meet the right person now, though. If you are willing to be patient and love me, I may/will be doing the same with you. We will just need to meet and see.
Although I’m shy, I’m also very sweet, quiet and playful once you get to know me. My foster family says I’m no problem at all. I’m about 2 years old, around 13 lbs., crate-trained, housebroken, and get along with other dogs! Not all of those dogs at rescue can say that!
