What a sweet and kind Maltese/Poodle our Lulu is! The Maltipoo is a designer breed mix that is opportunistically being bred for their adorable looks, non-shedding cotton-soft coats and great temperaments. As a result of this human greed, these pups are being bred, sold for very high prices or dumped if they have any challenges. Farfel's is very happy to rescue these dogs and find them nurturing and committed homes.
At 12 - 18 months old and just about 12 lbs, Lulu is an incredibly beautiful girl. We all know Lulu has arrived when we see the wag that starts at her tail and becomes a full-blown body wiggle..Lulu is greeting either a friend or anyone who has the potential to be a future playmate. She is initially cautious...assessing the situation to make sure all is OK. This makes perfect sense as she's been through time spent at a high-kill shelter waiting for her pending euthanasia date. When she was identified with a great temperament, Farfel's spoke up to bring Lulu to safety (and a new forever family) in Colorado. Once she senses that all present are her friends, Lulu is so warm and friendly that she always hopes every pat and kind word will turn into a friend. Both people and other dogs are drawn to Lulu for her kind attitude and playful ways.
Farfel's Rescue has determined that Lulu needs a mellow home where she is an active and important member of the family. We feel that this would be more possible in an adult home (retirees would be perfect) where there's a more predictable environment. Lulu would love taking long walks through the beauty of Colorado. Then at day's end, she's the ultimate snuggler and sleeps soundly through the night.
It is Lulu's love affair with life and all the hardships that she's suffered along the way that motivates us to put Lulu through Heartworm treatments..her precious life deserves to be saved! Lulu has tested HW+ and Farfel's (with the help of Dr G in Denver) has volunteered to save this very special dog's life. The heart worm treatment process involves antibiotics, several shots followed by a short period of quiet time for the dog. We have found this protocol to be very successful and the dogs go on to live long, healthy lives.
We are seeking an adopter to lovingly care for Lulu as she becomes Heartworm negative. It's quite an easy rehab process as it only entails mellow time with soft words and belly rubs. Farfel's will pay the vet bills and provide premium food and treats for this special pup as she becomes healthily heartworm-free.
Lulu (like all dogs) would benefit from positive reinforcement obedience classes that included the whole family - she is a super-smart pup who truly wants to please. Great training will give Lulu the skills to be an excellent adult dog. These type of classes will also bring out the great qualities of this Maltese/Poodle as well as creating a tightly-knit bonding with all family members.

Lulu is a non-shedding pup with a beautiful coat that is as soft as cotton. As this photo shows, Lulu is in desperate need of a spa day...with a sudsy bath and a grooming, Lulu will become the beautiful Maltipoo that is under all that hair. Lulu will always require periodic grooming and great nutrition to keep her hair healthy and matt-free. Poodles mixes like Lulu are considered to be one of the most hypoallergenic breed combinations available today.
